In preparation for the processing plant, we needed some earthworks done. We needed a small drainage dam, a dam to hold the olive pumice and some pine trees removed in the areas the dams were to go. We got a few quotes from local earth moving companies but they weren’t able to get here in the timeframe we needed. Jim had an idea – what if we brought our own? A quick look on machine sales found this 20 tonne 1980s Kato excavator and it has quickly become Harrison’s favourite toy on the farm. The first test was these pines in which it had no issues knocking over. Next up, the dams!
